Church of God in Christ

Shawn Hall is a Rhode Island native and a US Navy Veteran.  As a child, he felt the call to ministry, and it was not uncommon to find him in his bedroom after church preaching to his teddy bears, using a music stand as a pulpit. He also had a great love for reading the Word of God and would raid his father's library of commentaries and concordances.

In 1990, he found his way to San Diego, CA after he enlisted in the US Navy. In 1993 he met his soul-mate Tasha, who he wed in 1994. It was here in San Diego, that he was introduced to the Church of God in Christ at Faith Chapel COGIC, under the leadership of the Southern California Fourth Jurisdiction Prelate Bishop Roy Dixon.

In April of 2000, he ended his enlistment in the US Navy and he and his family relocated to Union City, CA. It was here where he really laid roots in the Church of God in Christ. He and his family began attending Glad Tiding Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Bishop Jerry Macklin, Prelate and 2nd Asst. Presiding Bishop COGIC Inc. After receiving a baton from Bishop Macklin, with orders to “run the race with diligence and don’t stop”, he began serving as an usher.

A short time later, he and his family joined Solid Rock COGIC under the leadership of Supt. Jerald Simpkins. It was here the seed that was planted was watered. He became a deacon and later a licensed minister in this fertile ground. In addition to local service, he served in the Sweet Unity District department of Sunday school.

In 2008, he and his family relocated to Houston TX where they served under Bishop Charles Brown for two years, where he and his wife served as the presidents of the couples ministry, before God sent them back to San Diego, CA. Upon returning to San Diego in 2010, he and his family joined New Beginnings COGIC, under the leadership of Supt. Johnny McCaleb, where he served as the Assistant Pastor.

In Jan. 2014, he began serving as pastor of the Friendship COGIC, a church that has a simple mission; “To be known as a house of prayer and praise, to preach and teach the Bible in truth and to impact the community which we serve.”

Pastor Hall Has a Bachelor of Arts of Religious Studies with an emphasis in Theology, a Master of Theology degree and is currently a PhD Candidate with an expected completion date in early 2019.
